Destination Known: Darjeeling, India

Gist: Forget about Jaipur’s lavish hotels or Mumbai’s urban charm, Darjeeling is a side of India that not many people see. Already noted as an “under the radar” location for the hardy tourist, the city is nestled in the Himalayan Mountain range right next door to Nepal and not too far from China. It is internationally renowned for its cascading hills, along with its famous tea industry and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Darjeeling is a district with a partially autonomous status within the state of West Bengal. The town is located in the Mahabharat Range or Lesser Himalaya at an average elevation of 2,050 meters. The foliage alone will astound you!
