Our readership knows that generally we are not fans of chain hotels, however we always make an exception for the W Hotels. This is for many reasons – including the design, the experience and the general feel of the stay. The truth is: W Hotels capture it all. Primarily, the design is astonishingly on point. But most importantly, the services are impeccable.
W Doha is no exception. We were excited to hear about the prospect of a W Hotel opening in the GCC area. The hotel is central and is filled with all the amenities expected of a W Hotel. Furthermore, with its lavish 441 guest rooms and suites, the hotel maintains a spacious feel with an edge of modernity and 21st century pazzaz.
If you would like to get a meal, chef Jean-Georges’ snazzy Market and Spice Market is right at your doorstep. Not only are they delicious digs but also one of the best eateries in the country. As for bars, you can choose between an array of three – Living Room, Wahm and Crystal. On top of all of that Bliss Spa is also available.
As if this wasn’t enough, for everything else there is the Whatever/Whenever service which the W Hotels famous concierge service – often imitated, but never duplicated.
Side note: This one night review of ours proved to test the hotel’s Whatever/Whenever service. As we arrived into Doha International Airport we lost all our wallet with 3 weeks worth of cash and credit cards (for the entirity of our trip) in it. We pleaded with the airlines official to help us out to no avail, leaving the airport without the wallet. They told us to come in the morning to pick it up but that was too late as we needed to catch the next flight in our transitting.
Knowing that we were going to stay in W Hotel, we immediately went to W Doha’s Whatever/Whenever desk to tell them of our mishap. We thought they might call the airport just to check on the status. However, the true colors of the establishment showed when they went to all length to retrieve that wallet.
The Whatever/Whenever Manager, Mr. Marco Neukom, took it upon himself to ensure my stay at the hotel was pleasant and without worry. He himself contacted the airport and the Lost And Found Department to ask about the wallet. When he got the same answer as we did, Mr. Nuekom proceeded to head to the airport himself to sort out the situation, without us asking.
Sure enough, Mr. Marco Nuekom himself rung the suite’s bell a while after with the wallet fully intact in his hands. We will forever be thankful for his efforts. This is truly a remarkable feat that only W Hotels’ Whatever/Whenever service would do. It saved our night and our trip.
