Staying at the Grand Hotel d’Angkor (Link) is part and parcel of a trip to Siem Reap. This historic hotel was built in 1929 and still captures the character of it’s French colonial past. Some of it’s notable guests include Charles-de-Gaulle and Charlie Chaplin. The hotel is fully equipped with a spa, pool, restaurants, bars and a small shopping arcade. Their 35 metre pool is inspired by the ancients baths of the Angkor region. The hotel’s elegance is paralleled by the superb service and hospitality not unfamiliar to South East Asia.  It is a perfect blend of all the cultures that have contributed to Cambodia’s rich history.

Air Arabia and Qatar Airways increasing flights from Kuwait!

Air Arabia and Qatar Airways will increase the frequency of their Kuwait passenger service to three flights a day from 25th March 2012.

Air Arabia will offer three daily services to Kuwait, departing Sharjah International Airport at 08:40, 17:10 and 21:00 and arriving at Kuwait International Airport at 09:10, 17:40 and 21:30 respectively. Return flights will depart from Kuwait at 09:50, 18:20 and 22:10 and arrive in Sharjah at 12:30, 21:00 and 00:50 respectively.

Qatar Airways launched additional daily flights between Kuwait and Doha earlier this month. Qatar Airways, one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, now operates six flights daily from Kuwait to its hub in Doha taking frequency up to 42 weekly services. The new daily flight QR149 departs Kuwait at 0540 and will arrive in Doha at 0700 hrs (local) every day. The additional frequency will provide even more seamless connectivity for passengers travelling to a range of destinations, including flights to the United States, Europe, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, and more.

Destination Known: Siem Reap, Cambodia

Gist: Take a dash of China, a dollop of France, a bit of Thailand, a sprinkle of India wrap it with the warmth of the Khmer culture and you get this perfect travel destination. We recently visited this gem in northern Cambodia– and we loved it!

Siem Reap, whose name literally means “flat defeat of Siam (modern day Thailand)”, hosts over 100 temples. Visiting these temples tells a tale of days past when the Khmer empire flourished in that region. Not to mention, it was also the setting for the filming of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
